Pioneering permanent relief.

Medicine is evolving at an ever-accelerating pace, and ADVENT is committed to being on the forefront of it. When next-generation treatments are available that lead to safer, faster and more effective care, ADVENT is first to adopt them. You can rely on ADVENT Sinus as the one medical clinic where the latest knowledge and technologies are always put into practice.

More innovations, more options.

ADVENT approaches sinus care as a specialized "institute," providing a suite of exclusive technologies and an array of advanced treatment options. If you suffer from sinus problems, this is a vitally important distinction.  Procedures that were considered state of the art as little as five years ago have been enhanced or replaced by newer techniques. An independent, innovative practice such as ADVENT is able to lead the way in implementing these latest treatments. No matter what the extent of your sinus problems, ADVENT can meet your needs with an appropriate alternative. Restoring natural function with the least degree of invasiveness is the leading edge in sinus care, one that ADVENT fully embraces.

Could you breathe more easily?

Are you a candidate for any of these newer sinus treatments? Ask yourself these questions:
  • Are you tired of the frustrating cycle of frequent sinus headaches, infections, and medications?
  • Do medications provide only temporary relief?
  • Are you concerned about having to take sinus medications for the rest of your life?
  • Have you been told that there is no good treatment option for your sinus condition?
If you can answer yes to any of these questions, it is likely that ADVENT can offer you the right alternative for permanent relief.

Balloon Sinuplasty.

Dr. Madan Kandula is the first surgeon in Wisconsin to perform Balloon Sinuplasty. A minimally invasive procedure, Balloon Sinuplasty utilizes a small catheter and a balloon to quickly open and expand blocked sinuses, restoring normal sinus drainage and function. Unlike conventional sinus surgery, Balloon Sinuplasty does not involve bone and tissue removal. Most patients can return to work the next day, and they experience lasting relief from their sinus problems.
Balloon Sinuplasty is simply the most advanced sinus procedure available today. It epitomizes the "less is more" approach of ADVENT in respecting natural functions and drawing on technology to restore or maintain them.

Conventional Sinus Surgery.

For a number of individuals, conventional sinus surgery is still appropriate. At ADVENT, however, it is given an unconventional twist. Employing image-guided surgery, Dr. Kandula precisely targets the blocked areas and opens them with refined endoscopic techniques. A less aggressive approach than that of surgeons schooled years ago, it spares healthy tissue and bone. As a result, no nasal packing is necessary, thus improving patients' post-surgical comfort.

Surgical Navigation.surgical navigation

Whether performing Balloon Sinuplasty or conventional sinus surgery, Dr. Kandula utilizes an advanced guidance system. CT scans of the sinuses are entered into a computer, which "maps" a surgical course, much like a global positioning satellite. Surgical navigation enables Dr. Kandula to pinpoint the affected areas for treatment with extreme accuracy, while avoiding healthy tissues. More targeted, less aggressive procedures produce faster recoveries.

Coblation Reduction.

Another state-of-the-art technology at ADVENT for swollen nasal tissue is coblation treatment.
coblation reduction Using gentle radio-frequency waves, coblation shrinks and removes the targeted tissue without the high heat of lasers or other techniques. There is less damage to surrounding, healthy tissue, and recovery time is rapid. Dr. Kandula also utilizes coblation in performing tonsillectomies and sleep apnea procedures.

In-Office CT Scans.MiniCATw CT Scanner

Effective sinus care depends on an accurate diagnosis. In the past, that often meant the inconvenience of going to a hospital to get a CT scan in a full-body machine. Not anymore. ADVENT is the first practice in southeastern Wisconsin to introduce the MiniCAT, a fast, in-office CT scanner.

MiniCAT is a new kind of small, high-tech CT scanner designed around patient ease and comfort. Unlike typical hospital scanners, you sit upright in an open environment. Amazingly, scans take only 40 seconds for adults and 20 seconds for children, with significantly lower radiation than full-body scanners. They produce high quality digital images, which Dr. Kandula will review with you on the laptop right in the exam room.
